LORIENT
BUILDER / DESIGNER – MOSAIC
PHOTOGRAPHER – JACK GIBSON
Situated on the banks of the Maroochydore River, our stonework was featured at Lorient by Mosaic.
Within the luxurious multi-residential apartments, our team of stonemasons created a bespoke materpiece, presented in a variety of areas including the two iconic curved stonewalls.
Challenges of the project include:
Riverwall

Detail
Riverwall
We were commisioned to install the Grecian quartzite on the river revetment wall. In order for the stone to bond, we used appropriate mechanical preparation along with specially formulated materials to contend with the salt water. As the tide continually changed we had to work efficiently to contend with the rise and falls using special fastset adhesives.
Scale
With over 200m2 of stone installed, continuity of style and quality was paramount, this is especially important with the two large stone curved walls. We also worked closely with fellow trades such as electricians, waterproofers in order to progress and achieve the desired finish.
Detail
The high level of detail includes the individual shaping of stone by hammers, to give the stone a natural organic finish. No grinders were used shaping the stone, only hammers and stonemasonry tools. Special care was needed when keypads and switches had to be mounted to the stone, as the selected stones had to be meticulously dressed.
Throughout the project, our team of stonemasons executed each area with precision and flair, working alongside fellow trades to ensure delivery.
